Fashion Boutique Hotel Miami
My first trip of 2020 was in mid January and it was to go on another cruise from Miami. We stayed in Miami for 3 nights before our 4 day cruise and at a different hotel for the 1 night after the cruise. Just like my last trip to Miami in 2015, I looked at hotels in South Beach and booked Fashion Boutique Hotel.
Location
Fashion Boutique Hotel Miami is located in South Beach, which is known for its beautiful beaches, night life and vast numbers of restaurants and bars. This hotel was only about 5 minute walk / stroll to Ocean Drive where the majority of all the establishments and the beaches are located. Since this hotel was so close to everything we wanted, it was very convenient for us to go back and forth to the hotel to get our things or take a quick break and then continue with our day.
Accessibility
The accessibility of this hotel was great. First, there is a wheelchair button to get in the hotel, it actually opens both doors so that there is lots of room to get in. When the main doors are locked, we just scan our room key bracelet against the black square scanner and press the wheelchair button to get in.
We were put on floor 1 which has 3 stairs from the front desk and lobby floor level. We were quite surprised they have a wheelchair elevator lift that just folds out when it is needed. We just had to get a front desk person to operate the lift with a key every time we needed to use it. It was a bit inconvenient but worth it to use the lift.
Since our room was on the first floor and very close to the front desk, it was a bit noisy at night some of the nights we were there. Drunk people would come in and would be quite loud and with room walls being so thin, the noise did bother with our sleep.
Room
There are 48 rooms at this hotel and each room is uniquely decorated with a different fashion figure. Our room was a bit tight for my wheelchair to fully get around the whole room so I took the bed closest to the door. This was not a big deal because we dd not spend much time in the room. If we were to come back to the hotel real quick from our day out, it was just easier to wait by the outdoor seating area so we didn’t have to bother asking to use the lift elevator or be cramped in our room.
The bathroom was a bit small but it had everything that I needed. The toilet had enough space and was low enough to have my commode bathroom chair fit around it. The roll in shower was great and had the hand held shower.
Amenities
There is a free daily continental breakfast buffet that is included with every hotel stay. The breakfast room was located right beside our room so it was quite noisy every morning. There was no tables or seating so people just had to grab the items they wanted and leave. There wasn’t a lot to choose from, as there were only toast, bagels, fruit, yogurt and juice. We mostly skipped this and ate elsewhere.
There wasn’t really anything else at this hotel but it was sufficient for our needs. The free wifi worked well everywhere including the outside waiting area.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Fashion Boutique Hotel. It was a bit annoying to have to ask and set up the lift elevator every time we needed it to go in and out of our room but was glad they had it. The accessible room was quite noisy since it was right by the front desk, but we still managed to get some sleep. I would come back to this hotel if there was a great deal but will probably choose another hotel next time I am back in Miami.
