The Westin Atlanta Airport
Last month, after spending 2 nights at another hotel in Atlanta, and friend and I moved over to spend 3 nights at The Westin Atlanta Airport. We booked this far hotel because it was right next door to one of the shuttle stops to Imagine Music Festival at Chattahoochee Hills. Since the music festival was canceled almost last minute, I wasn’t able to cancel this hotel and stay downtown.
The Hotel
Just off Interstate 85, The Westin Atlanta Airport hotel is one of the closest hotels to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport. It is located on 4736 Best Road and is a 4-star hotel. Normally I don’t care too much where I stay as long as there is wheelchair accessibility and a roll in shower in the bathroom.
The entrance of the hotel was all covered, which was nice because it was slightly raining when we arrived to check in at the hotel. The lobby also looked really nice and there was a lot of chairs and seats for people to hang out. There is also a lot of elevators including 2 glass elevators that takes you to all 10 floors and 500 rooms. Masks were not mandatory anywhere either except for staff.
Room
As with most hotels, accessible rooms usually have only 1 King bed in the room. I think it is because having 1 bed allows more space for wheelchairs to move around in the room more freely. The large bed was very soft and very comfortable to sleep on. There was the usual that can be found in any room like a TV, coffee machine with coffee and tea.
The bathroom was a great size to accommodate my bathroom commode chair and the toilet height was perfect. There were grab bars in the shower for those who needed it and the hand held shower head was great with lots of settings and functions. The sink also had ample space for people in wheelchairs to roll right up to it.
Amenities
The Westin Atlanta Airport has some great amenities that guests will enjoy. Besides the standard free wifi that can be used anywhere on the property, it actually worked quite well without any connectivity issues. There was a large 24 hour gym that can be accessed with your room key. It was seldom used by hotel guests, but my friend did get to use it a few times during our stay.
There was also a restaurant called Cecilia’s Southern Table, a Martini Bar/Lounge, Starbucks coffee shop and a convenience/gift shop that we did not use either. Prices were on the higher side at all these places but that was to be expected.
There was a free shuttle that took guests to either the airport or to a Ruby Tuesdays Restaurant nearby. Since they also had a shuttle with a wheelchair ramp, we decided to go eat at the Ruby Tuesdays as the food was also cheaper than the hotel restaurant.
Pool
There were actually 2 pools located at this property. There was an outside and an inside pool. Only the one that was inside had a wheelchair pool lift in it. The both of us did not use the pool during our stay but we did get a chance to just relax and sit on the pool chairs.
Location
This hotel is located in an industrial area and nothing is really around it except other hotels. The only place that was easy for us to get to was the Ruby Tuesday restaurant which we visited once using the free shuttle. We only stayed at this hotel 3 nights and were lucky we had local friends to drive us to destinations for 2 of the days.
The Westin Atlanta Airport hotel was a really nice, fancy and accessible hotel to stay at but I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you have a car or need to be closer to the airport or the area. I wouldn’t stay again unless next year it will be close to the shuttle stop for Imagine Music Festival.
