Two Days at ICON Park Orlando
ICON Park is a 20 acre open-air entertainment complex featuring fun games and attractions for the whole family. There are also over 40 different restaurants, shops, kiosks and food carts in this area to keep you occupied for hours. Even though, my friend and I arrived in Orlando half a day late, we still had almost 2 days to spend at ICON Park.
We both got the ICON Park Play Pass which allowed us to experience 8 of the park’s top attractions. I wrote about that on my previous blog here. There were a few other attractions not included in the pass like the Christmas photo experience and tours that we did not do. We did enjoy a few food options and had a great time exploring the park.
Getting There
My friend and I stayed at Rosen Inn on 6327 International Drive which was only about a 30 minute walk/stroll to ICON Park. There were so many restaurants, shops and things to see that our walk/stroll did not seem long or boring at all. We would either stop at a few shops to buy what we needed for the day or eat at one the restaurants that are on the way.
ICON Park Play Pass
The ICON Park Play Pass is just a discounted bundled ticket package that includes 8 of their top attractions. I wrote about it previously here. What is great about it, was that we had 30 days to use the pass after we redeemed our first attraction. This way we did not have to rush to do everything in a limited amount of time. Having this pass also got us to skip the box office line to buy tickets individually. We were able to go right up to the admission counter to scan in right away.
Food
There were lots of small food kiosks, food carts/trucks and restaurants located throughout ICON Park. They range from some local small businesses to great big national chains. Our first day at the park, besides buying a lemonade at one of the kiosks, we ate at Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips. This was more of a fast-casual restaurant and not a fancy place like his signature restaurant. The food was great and we got to sit outside on the patio to get a great view of a little waterfall display and the park itself.
On our second day at ICON Park, we decided on going to Uno Pizza for dinner that was near the park, so we decided to get a snack or a drink within ICON Park. My friend suggested Sugar Factory, which I never been to any of their locations before.
They offer upscale dining that also includes colorful candy infused cocktails, giant milkshakes, smoking goblet drinks and gourmet burgers. There is even a large candy store attached to the side. We ended up ordering a smoking alcoholic drink and pumpkin pie milkshake. Both were huge, quite delicious and very pricy. Our Play Pass did give us a 10% off our total bill though.
Shopping
There were a few gift shops sprinkled around ICON Park like ICON Park Gifts and Wheelhouse Gift Shop. Other bigger shops include a Build -A-Bear Workshop and Calenoi Sunglasses. There were also other small kiosks selling bracelets, vapes, shirts and wine. We both got to sample some wine at one of the kiosks before my friend bought some.
Location
ICON Park is in such a great location on International Drive. There is lots of FREE parking and a bunch of other shops, restaurants and attractions within a few minutes walk/stroll. We really enjoyed Uno Pizza across the street which is a phenomenal deep dish pizza chain from Chicago.
We also visited Ripley’s Believe It or Not Orlando which was just a couple minutes from ICON Park. This museum has hundreds of unusual exhibits that are unique, bizarre and hard to believe. It was wheelchair accessible and we did spend over an hour here checking out everything.
Spending time at ICON Park should definitely be on your list when visiting Orlando. The are many shops, restaurants and attractions located with the park and surrounding area. With different options in buying tickets for the attractions including the Play Pass, it can definitely fit any budget or trip length. It was great for us to explore everything around the area too.
