Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Downtown
Just 2 weeks ago, a friend and I got a chance to visit the capital of Canada, which was Ottawa, Ontario. It was both our first times and we got to spend 5 nights. We wanted to stay somewhere downtown that was close to the the Parliament buildings. We ended up booking at the Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Downtown.
Hotel
Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Downtown was built in 2018 and has 175 guest rooms on 10 floors. When we arrived to the hotel in our accessible taxi, there was a nice covered driveway to get to the front entrance.

arriving at the covered entrance
There were double doors with automatic doors opening which made it easy to go in the lobby with our luggage. The front desk area looked very modern and clean and we had no issues checking in.

Room

accessible rooms only come with 1 bed
Accessible rooms at this hotel only come with 1 King size bed so a staff member lent us a rollaway bed for free for our entire stay. My friend slightly rearranged some of the furniture so the rollaway bed could fit in the room and not get in the way of my wheelchair.

they gave free use of a rollaway bed for the entire stay
There was a small microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker that we used during our stay. The tv was big and had great picture quality. The king bed was super soft and had some space under the bed for a portable Hoyer lift.

wheelchair button outside and inside our room
The door also had a wheelchair button that mostly worked in conjunction with the room key. There were some issues sometimes with that button not working and staff was informed to get it fixed next time.

roll in shower
The bathroom was very spacious which included a roll under sink, toilet at perfect height with grab bars. The roll in shower had both a fixed shower head and a removable handheld shower head. There were also grab bars ad a flip up shower chair.

Amenities
The free wifi worked well throughout the whole property. There is all day dining at the Tulip restaurant while the Pavilion Pantry is open 24 hours for drinks and snacks. There is also a fitness center and 10 meeting rooms in this hotel.

Pool
There is a large indoor pool that we never had time to visit. The pool did have a wheelchair pool lift for those that needed it.
Location
The hotel is located at 361 Queen St in downtown Ottawa. It really is close to everything. The Lyon train station is just 2 blocks from the hotel. Also nearby includes the Parliament buildings, Rideau canal, ByWard Market, and even Gatineau, Quebec.

Final Thoughts
This hotel was very nice and very accessible with a great price. The location was great and I would definitely stay again if I ever revisit Ottawa.
