2024 Travel – Year In Review

By on January 3, 2025

After going on 6 trips back in 2023, I managed to go on 4 trips in 2024.  I got to use my Universal Studios Hollywood annual pass for 1 more trip and got to go on my second Disney cruise.  I also revisited Denver, went to Ottawa and went on 1 more cruise at the end of the year.

My 4 trips in 2024 are:

1.) Los Angeles, USA

My first trip of 2024 was in late February to Los Angeles to visit Universal Studios Hollywood one more time before my annual pass expires.  New things I got to do at the park includes going on The Simpsons Ride and having some snacks at the newly opened Power Up Cafe.

We also visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame really quick.

We then flew to New Orleans for 3 nights and got to visit 3 of Audubon’s attractions that includes a visit to the Audubon Zoo.  Eating World famous beignets from ultra busy Cafe du Monde was another highlight of our trip.

Another fun thing we did was to go on the Steamboat Natchez Dinner Jazz Cruise.  It was a bit cold and windy on the night we went but the buffet food was decent and the whole experience was worth doing.

Disney Magic Cruise

I had so much on the Disney Wonder cruise last year that I had to make it an annual thing and went on the Disney Magic cruise this year.  Even though it is Disney’s oldest ship from 1998, the ship still looked to be in great condition.

I enjoyed everything on the Disney cruise from the food to the entertainment to the characters.  Even though they are more expensive than other cruise lines, I do plan on making it a yearly trip to try a different ship and already have one booked early 2025.

2.) Denver, USA

After a bad trip to Denver last year, I wanted to return to have a better experience and to use my theme park tickets at Elitch Gardens.  There wasn’t a lot of things for a wheelchair person to do at this park but I was glad to experience it to review for others.

Our trip did start off with a missing foot pedal from my manual wheelchair but it was eventually found the next day.  The short 3 night stay did include some fun things like meeting a friend for dinner and visiting the Denver Zoo.

3.) Ottawa, Canada

I have always wanted to visit our country’s capital city and I finally got to in the summer.  We did the main tourist things like visiting the Parliament buildings, the Canadian War Museum, and an Ottawa Boat cruise.

We also did a day trip to Gatineau, Quebec as it was a short walk/roll from our hotel.   We went to the Canadian Museum of History and got to eat at St. Hubert’s Chicken restaurant.

4.) Fort Lauderdale, USA

My last trip of 2024 was in November for a cruise.  We booked it out of Fort Lauderdale and got to spend 3 nights.  The 2 full days we had were mostly doing relaxing things.  We did check out Fort Lauderdale beach and I got to use a beach wheelchair.

The other day we just wandered around downtown for a bit before going on a ghost tour.  This was really interesting and it was just my friend and I with our tour guide.

Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas Cruise

Going on the Liberty of the Seas ship was my first time on a Royal Caribbean cruise.  I have been on 10 cruises before and always wanted to try this cruise line and it did not disappoint.

There was a great deal on this older ship and I had to book this 4 night cruise that sailed to 2 destinations in the Bahamas: Nassau and CocoCay.  The food, entertainment and the ship was great and I will be cruising with Royal again sometime soon.

Final Thoughts

2024 was another great year of travel.  Although I only got to go on 4 trips, I had a great time going on 2 cruises and got another 2 trips within North America.

I am already booked for my next trip which is at the end of this month.  It will be another Disney cruise which is a Marvel themed cruise on the Dream ship.  Please follow my Facebook or Instagram to get updates!
