2021 Travel – Year In Review
After only doing 1 trip in 2020, I was itching to do more travelling in 2021. With the covid pandemic slowing down in the summer, places and restrictions on gatherings started to loosen. I wanted my first post-pandemic trip to be within Canada just so I could test out what travelling would be like still with partial covid restrictions.
For the third year in a row, I still never got to add to my country count of 30. My first trip of 2021 was in July to Toronto, September to Atlanta and November to Orlando. Here is a recap of my 3 trips of the year.
Toronto, Canada
I was actually a bit nervous taking my first flight since the pandemic started shutting everything down in March 2020. I chose to visit a city in Canada that I am already familiar with so I didn’t have to worry about going somewhere totally new. I decided on Toronto as this was my third time visiting this city: as I previously went in 2009 and 2016. I even stayed at the Chelsea Hotel again since I loved the accessibility of the hotel and the location.
It was great repeating some of the main attractions like the CN Tower, Yonge-Dundas Square and Center Island. I even got to visit a few museums that I have never been to like: Bata Shoe Museum, Gardiner Museum and the Museum of Illusions. My favorite part of this Toronto trip was visiting a few friends and having dim sum with my cousins. Even with some restrictions in place like mandatory masks, I had a great time.
Atlanta, USA
Back in September 2019, I had an amazing experience in Atlanta attending Imagine Music Festival and trying accessible camping for the first time ever with Unity Travel. For 2021, the festival moved to a brand new venue and I was really excited to check out the accessibility and blog about it. Unfortunately, during my layover to Atlanta, I found out that the music festival was completely cancelled due to a rainy forecast.
It really bummed me out as I got all the extra necessary covid requirements just to fly to the United States. My friend and I still managed to stay positive and to enjoy our week long rainy stay in Atlanta. It was my third time visiting this city in just over 2 years so I knew what to expect. Lucky I had a few local friends who took us out and showed us some cool places to visit like the Amicalola Falls.
Orlando, USA
Just last month I got to visit Orlando for the very first time ever. After a delay in the trip by a day, I had a jam packed rest of the 10 day trip. My friend and I got to visit ICON Park, Universal Studios, EDC Orlando and Disney World. I also got to experience my first stay at any Disney hotel and that was amazing too. Follow along my Facebook page or Instagram as those without clickable links will soon be updated with new blog posts.
This Orlando trip was a mixture of seeing museums, theme parks, music festivals, and visiting friends. I haven’t went on a trip over 7 days in a long time so it was nice to do that again. Hopefully in 2022, people can travel easier again because I really want to visit a new country and finally make it to my 30th one. My goal is to visit Paris and attend Paris Disneyland’s 30th anniversary and attend a few music festivals…. Stay Tuned!
