THIS IS MY STORY

Hello,

My name is Alan Vuong and I had a really bad car accident when I was 20 that left me paralyzed and in a wheelchair.  I had a complete injury and broke my neck between c4 and c5.  Even though I need a wheelchair and require an assistant I still travel the world.  At first I had no idea if I was able to adjust to my new life and what my future holds.  There is just too much to see in this world to keep me confined to my wheelchair.  I went on my first vacation to Puerto Vallarta in November 2006 and was instantly hooked.

I realized that travelling is my passion and have been to 25 countries since.  I went skydiving, hot-air ballooning, horse riding in Las Vegas.  Been to The Great Wall of China, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Great Pyramids of Giza and many many more.

I recently created this website to show everyone that it still is possible to travel in a wheelchair and that there is lots of things that we can still do. I will eventually update this site with my past trips and continue writing about my new travels. Hope you guys enjoy and just remember… yes you can!

If you want to try extreme all terrain wheelchair accessible travel, look at my website, or come to the UK and have a go.

Nice website, Alan! I am a wheelchair user myself. I am hoping to travel internationally one day. Just curious, are you Vietnamese?

Great to discover your website. I am in a power wheelchair for 2 years now and I went to Barcelona for two weeks last June… Just to prove to myself that I could. It was difficult, exhausting but very rewarding too. The only thing is that ultimately, I was almost always alone… And adventures like this are often better when shared. Do you know of any forum where people who love to travel (disabled or not), can share expenses by coordinating travel plans? It is hard enough to find money for my own vacations; I can’t afford to double my costs in order to have someone come along.

Perhaps we may start a fb page to connect other solo disabled travellers who may face the same issues?

Loved reading about your African Safari, it is on my to go destination list!. As a fellow quad., I love to know how you dealt with the plane travel. Did you do all the traveling to S.. Africa in one long flight? Did you go in a manual or power chair? II am in BC. Thanks in advance!

Sorry for delayed response. I never got notified about your comment. I had a layover in Los Angeles first. I usually bring my manual wheelchair and used it for the safari
