Disney Dream to Cozumel, Mexico
After going on the Disney Magic last year, I bought a placeholder for my next Disney cruise. This $250 USD placeholder gave me a 10% discount off my next cruise. I booked the Disney Dream for 5 nights out of Fort Lauderdale which included a Marvel Day at Sea.
There were 2 port stops on this cruise: Cozumel Mexico and Castaway Cay Bahamas. This blog post will only be about Cozumel and I will write about Castaway Cay later.
Getting Off The Ship
Getting off the ship was really easy as it docked right at the pier. All we had to do was just scan our “key to the world” ID sail card on our way off the ship. There was a big gangway ramp connecting from the ship to the pier. A staff does help me wheel off the ship.

Cozumel was a docked port
We did have some food at Cabanas buffet before heading to Cozumel. My friend wasn’t really into checking out this city so we did sleep in a bit and started our day later on.
Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the Eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is Mexico’s largest Caribbean island. It is a common stop for many cruise ships. This was actually my 5th time stopping in Cozumel as part of a cruise itinerary.

Disney actually docks at the Punta Langosta pier as my past 4 stops at Cozumel with Carnival cruises docks at the Puerta Maya terminal
My previous 4 stops at Cozumel has been with Carnival cruises which actually docks at the Puerta Maya terminal. This is further from the downtown area. Disney docks at the Punta Langosta Pier, which is the largest pier with a shopping area right there.

Our Day
My first 3 times at Cozumel, we did a city tour with alcohol tasting so we wanted to do a casual short visit this time. We visited Punta Langosta shopping plaza right by the pier we got off of. There was a Starbucks in the plaza that we used the free wifi for a few minutes.

Afterwards, we then just strolled along the pier. The weather was nice so we just visited some shops and took pictures of some sculptures and some key artwork along the way.

sunny day in Cozumel
We were close to spending 2 hours already in Cozumel and my friend wanted to get back on the ship. On port days, with most people out exploring the ports, the ship can be very empty. Since we were back on the ship early, we just enjoyed the peace and quietness of the top deck of the ship.

Accessibility
We didn’t go too deep into the city, but accessibility downtown Cozumel near the port was quite good. Not all sidewalks had curb cuts or ramps so my friend either had to bump up my wheelchair or take another sidewalk.

downtown streets
Some stores were not accessible either. There was a step or 2 to get inside the store. This was a bit annoying but lucky my friend was strong enough to help me into the store anyways. We didn’t visit too many shop either.

some stores and restaurants did have a step or 2 to get in
Final Thoughts
It was my 5th visit to Cozumel, Mexico and it was great to arrive on a different port terminal. I have always got off at the Puerta Maya terminal with Carnival cruises but the Punta Langosta terminal is much closer to downtown. Although my friend and I only spent 2 hours in Cozumel, we still had fun checking out downtown and not do any excursions.
