My Top 7 Reasons For Going On A South African Safari

By on March 31, 2018

As someone who loves to travel and try new things, a South African Safari has always been one of my dream bucket list items.  I get to have an exciting mix of wildlife, adventure, cultural experiences, beautiful landscapes and long lasting memories.  Thanks to Anew Hotel Hluhluwe & Safaris, Hluhluwe Game Reserve and Access2Africa Safaris I got to make my dream a reality.  So last month I made it to Durban with my buddy Josh to meet up with Jennae and Dave from Access2Africa Safaris to finally experience this adventure.  Here are my top 7 reasons for going on a South African Safari.

1. ) Escape From Everyday Life

This is a great way to get away from the busy daily living of modern life.  This is a total change in scenery and a South African safari takes you on a more relaxed environment and pace helping you forget about your daily stress at home.  It is a great way to recharge and rejuvenate.

2.) Pre Packaged and Great Value

Most South African safaris include accommodations, meals, and sightseeing.  This allows you to manage your budget easier and reduce unexpected costs that always arise with travelling.  Tour operators also can offer great deals because everything is bundled together at a lower cost.  Plus this saves you time from arranging everything and lets you have more vacation time.  With Access2Africa Safaris, we got a nice air-conditioned wheelchair accessible van to take us on our safari.

3.) Beautiful Landscapes

Not only do we get to see beautiful landscapes on a South African safari, we get great photo opportunities.  Get jaw dropping snaps of nature and wildlife that all your friends and family will be jealous of.  Bring extra memory cards and batteries just in case.

4.) Up Close and Personal with Wildlife

Seeing South African animals out in their natural environment is my top reason for going on a safari.  It was amazing to see elephants, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, buffaloes, and other exotic animals roam freely and not caged up or in a small enclosure at a zoo.   There are also many types of birds everywhere.  A must for animal lovers.

5.) Learn Lots

It is a great way to learn lots about the animals you see on the safari.  Seeing them in their natural home and learning from our tour guide, we got a better sense of other cultures and learn more about ourselves as a person.

6.) Meet New People

We were on a private tour and got to meet 2 great people from South Africa who showed us around.  Safaris are usually done in small groups so you really get to know your travel companions.  It is definitely a great way to meet travelers from around the world and share a life bonding trip with.

7.) Support Conservation and Wildlife

The cost of a South African safari also includes conservation fees for the game reserves and wildlife places that we visit.  The money that comes in helps protect these places.  Safaris also include accommodations at lodges and camps who contribute to the well being of local communities and wildlife.

Overall, a South African safari is definitely worth your time and money.  You will be in such awe to experience nature at its best.  Thanks again to Durban TourismTourism KwaZulu-Natal, Umhlanga TourismAnew Hotel Hluhluwe & Safaris, Hluhluwe Game Reserve, Bayete Zulu Game Reserve, Leopard Corner Guest House, Makaranga Garden Lodge, St. Lucia Tours & Charters, uShaka Marine World, and Access2Africa Safaris   for making this possible.
