Sydney was the first city we visited as part of my buddy and I’s Australia trip in February 2015. We left Calgary on a Tuesday afternoon and didn’t arrive in Sydney until Thursday morning. Since we were too early to check in at Travelodge Hotel, as our room wasn’t ready until 2 PM, we dropped off our luggage and went to World Square to spend a bit of time.
Location
Travelodge Hotel is located on Wentworth Avenue and is in such a great location. Besides being just 2 blocks from World Square shopping center and many shops and restaurants, the hotel is also very close to Hyde Park, which is a 40 acre public park full of trees, flowers, plants and bird life.
Also, Darling Harbor, Chinatown, Sydney Tower Eye, Queen Victoria Building and more are all within minutes making Travelodge Hotel a great value hotel to book. There is just so many things to do that is nearby that you don’t even have to leave the area.
Accessibility
The hotel was easy to get to and there is a ramp to get to the main lobby of the hotel from the outside. One side of the hotel does have a slight incline if trying to go the back side and if you have difficulty using a manual wheelchair. I always travel with someone strong, so I don’t have any issues with that. The hotel itself had elevators and was easy enough to get around the whole hotel.
Room
I actually booked a room with 3 beds because a friend from Brisbane was flying in to join us for a few nights in Sydney. Since there were 3 beds, all the beds were only twin size and the room was just regular size. When there was 2 of us, the room was already crowded enough and when all 3 of were in the room, it was a bit tight. Lucky, it was 3 of us for only half the stay and we don’t stay in the hotel much except to sleep.
At least the bathroom was a great size. There was a roll in shower, with a flip up shower bench and a removable hand held shower. The toilet was at a good height level for my commode to fit over without any difficulty. We were pleased with the set up of the bathroom.
Amenities
Travelodge did NOT provide free breakfast or free shuttles or anything. They did have free use of a gym which we did not use and they did provide the standard free wifi. This hotel did not have a pool either. Me and my friends were ok with everything as we did not stay in the hotel much and rather use our money for other things during the trip.
Travelodge Hotel was another great choice hotel with reasonable pricing. Even without a whole lot of amenities here, they had a great location and good accessibility, we had a great time checking out some of the top attractions and some of the free things to do in Sydney.
