Roadway Inn near Melrose Ave, Los Angeles

By on March 18, 2024

Last month, a friend and I stopped in Los Angeles for 2 nights so we could go Universal Studios Hollywood for a full day before my annual pass expires.  I already went for 4 days previously and the Halloween event within the past year and was happy to go one last time this trip.  We end up staying at Rodeway Inn near Melrose Ave.

The Hotel

Built in 1965 and last renovated in 2008, Rodeway Inn near Melrose Ave is 2 floors with 42 rooms.  There was a nice ramp to get into the front entrance but no wheelchair button or automatic doors.  The lobby and front desk area was a bit small but after checking in, it lead us into a gated area where all the rooms were.

Room

We were given the wrong room because it had no roll in shower but we got it switched right away.  The accessible room had 1 Queen bed which was fine for us to share.   There wasn’t any space under the bed for a portable lift to roll under.

The mini fridge, microwave, safe and coffee machine were all tucked into the side of the bathroom giving the main room more space for my wheelchair.  There was enough room for my friend to transfer me from/to my wheelchair.

The toilet was the right height for my commode to roll over, and there were enough grab bars around it.  The roll in shower was great too with the flip up bath seat, grab bars and the removable hand held shower head.

Amenities

The free wifi worked fine throughout the property.  There is also a covered paid parking with an accessible parking spot which we never used.  There is a free light breakfast offered daily.  There is toast, bagels, packaged pastries, coffee and juice.  This is located by the lobby and the exit so if we were up early enough, we’d grab a few items before leaving.

Location

This hotel is located on 777 Vine St and was about a 20 minute walk/stroll to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  There is also a Pavilions Grocery store across the street from the hotel, along with many shops, restaurants and fast food places nearby.

Hollywood Walk of Fame is just 20 minutes walk/stroll from hotel

Final Thoughts

This hotel worked well for me and I would definitely stay again.  The location, price and accessibility were all great.  The free breakfast wasn’t the best but at least it was free.
