Universal Studios Singapore – Accessibility Review

By on October 24, 2026

After having a great time at Epic Universe Orlando despite it being cold and not all the wheelchair rides were working, I wanted to check out Universal Studios Singapore.  I looked online and saw that there was only 1 ride that was truly accessible.  There were other things I could still do so last month a friend and I did visit this park.

Getting There

We were staying at Grand Park City Hall and used the accessible bus at City Hall MRT station.  There was also an option to use the train but my friend thought the bus would be easier.  Universal Studios Singapore is located at Resorts World Sentosa Island so that is where we needed to go.

took the bus from City Hall MRT station right by our hotel

The bus took us right to VivoCity where we transfer and take a monorail to Universal Studios.  VivoCity is a huge shopping mall and entertainment centre so we had to try and look around a bit.  It was past 11 AM so we quickly saw the Hello Kitty Moonlit Garden and ate lunch at New Hong Kong Roast at Food Republic food court.  Prices were reasonable.

bus took us to the huge VivoCity mall to transfer, but we quickly looked around the mall and ate at the food court

VivoCity station is located on level 3 of the mall and costs $4 SGD for each of us to use the Sentosa Express monorail to Resorts World station.  Return trips from the island are free.  We were told that the elevator at Resorts World station is broken and we were to get off at Imbiah station and to walk back a bit.

Once we got at Imbiah station, we weren’t sure where to go so a Universal Studios staff actually came with us and pushed my wheelchair and gave us information of everything we passed by.  We looked at WEAVE shopping and entertainment district which is right in front of Universal Studios Singapore and took pictures with the iconic Universal Globe before entering the park.

met with Universal worker at Imbiah station who guided us to Universal front gates and took pics for us

We got to Universal almost 12.30pm, tickets were bought online in advance for the Tuesday, 2 adults were $152 SGD and we even get a free 4 piece macaron tix box worth $19 SGD with a special online promo.

Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore had its soft opening in March 2010 after almost 2 years of construction.  It had its official grand opening in May 2011.  It is one of 5 Universal theme parks around the world.  It features 24 rides, shows, and attractions in 7 themed areas: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and the newest land: Minion Land.

at guest relations, disabilities get alternate access pass and express entry pass

As soon as we entered the park, we went directly to Guest Relations.  We talked to the lady at the desk and gave her information about my disability.  She approved for me to get an express pass and an alternate stairs pass.  This allows the person with a disability with 1 companion to use the express line and/or alternate entrance that doesn’t have stairs.

Here is how our day went:

Hollywood

Hollywood is the first area we enter when arriving at the park, after visiting Guest Relations, we just took a bunch of pictures in the area.  It was designed to replicate the golden age of the 1970s Hollywood Boulevard with classic architecture, palm trees, and a Walk of Fame.  We also checked out some of the shops including the Hello Kitty store.

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase

(New York)

After my friend went for a smoke break, we headed back to the New York area.  We thought that Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase might be an easy ride for me to go on.  We used the disability express pass and got right to the front of the line.  My friend went for a test ride to see if it would be good for me.

entrance

The ride opened in March 2013 and is a dark ride that features Elmo and Super Grover travelling to space to rescue the stolen spaghetti from Macaroni the Merciless and friends.  My friend had to lift and carry me to transfer into the ride vehicle.  I even sat on my Roho cushion for the entire ride.  I had a lot of fun but only rode it once.

had to get transferred for the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase ride, but sat on my roho cushion. My friend rode alone first and I joined for second ride

Belloween Ball

(Hollywood)

After the ride, we checked out a few stores while waiting for the Belloween Ball to start at the Hollywood stage.  Part of Universal Studio Singapore’s Trick or Thrills 2026 event that runs from September 1 to November 1, Belloween Ball is included with a regular day ticket.  It is a 10 minute show that is definitely aimed at kids.

10 minute fun kids show

This new show marks the debut of the Bride of Monster Bob.  Along with Monster Bob and other minion characters they teach the audience how to dance and also look for the best dressed costume.  It end with photo opportunities and free Halloween candy.  Songs were catchy and the show was fun.

Sci-Fi City

Next to the New York area is Sci-Fi City.  We saw the really cool Bumblebee Camaro on display but didn’t see any of the Transformers characters for photo ops.  My friend went on Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON (both versions/tracks), while I waited on side.  Both of these roller coasters were not suitable for me as they are too thrilling and not wheelchair accessible.

Ancient Egypt

The weather was getting quite hot as we headed to the Ancient Egypt area.  Revenge of the Mummy ride was down for renovations but we were hanging out by the building since it was cool with AC blowing out one of the doors.

really cool statues

We took some photos of the area which is 1920s themed after the Golden Age of exploration.  We even got some photo ops with some Egyptians after they performed a quick Egyptian dance.  My friend rode Treasure Hunters before we left the area.  I didn’t feel like being transferred for this ride.

The Lost World

After drinking lots of water and refilling our water bottles, we went to the Lost World area.  My friend rode Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure while we had time before meeting Blue the Velociraptor for the photo op.  We got to be first in line.  We were only allowed to take photos while in front of Blue while he was in the back of the truck.  We then explored the rest of this land area before going to our next show.

WaterWorld

(The Lost World)

We then went a bit early to see the 6 PM WaterWorld show which was still in The Lost World area.  I’ve seen this show at Universal Studios Hollywood a few times and was used to sitting at the front row near the splash zones.  I was surprised that the wheelchair accessible areas were all at the back row.

we went to the 6pm show of WaterWorld which is about 20 minutes long

It is still a 20 minute stunt show based on the 1995 movie and features jet skis, explosions, water cannons, extreme fight scenes, and an explosive seaplane crash landing.  It was still as awesome as I remember but now without any water splashing on me.

action packed show

While heading out of the show, we heard a guy at Mariner’s Market food cart yell out that the fish and chips $15.50 SGD meal was 2 for 1 so my friend bought some to go.

Far Far Away

The Far Far Away area is a fairytale themed land inspired by film franchise.  We decided to get a table to eat our fish and chips right next to the 6:40 PM Fortune Favors the Furry! which is a live performance featuring Puss in Boots.  It was a good distraction while eating our meal.

By the time we were done eating, we had just under an hour before the 8 PM park closing time.  We quickly took a few more photos in front of the Far Far Away castle and area before visiting the last area of the park.

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem

(Minion Land)

Minion Land is actually relatively new as it opened in February 2025 replacing the former Madagascar area.  I wanted to visit Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem because this was the only ride at Universal Studios Singapore to have an alternate option for wheelchair users.  It is an animated simulator ride.

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem has stationary accessible alternate to a ride vehicle

Similar to the Hollywood location, we start out in the queue learning about the recruits of a Minion.  We then enter Gru’s living room then to his laboratory before watching a safety video then going on the ride.  Wheelchair users get to park themselves at the front row next to a stationary bench instead of sitting in a seat that moves up and down and shake.  It was still fun watching the ride video.  We then took a few photos with a costumed minion before leaving the park.

Leaving the Park

It was almost 8 PM, so we slowly made our way to exit the park while checking out a few shops on our way out.  We went back to WEAVE shopping area to get my free 4 piece macarons in a collectible tin at Pierre Herme.  I chose a Merlion Singapore tin while each of us chose 2 different macaron flavors.  My friend wanted to rush home so we got our gift to go.

picking up our free 4 pc macarons tin box ($19 SGD value) for buying promo: 2 tix $152 SGD gate admission

We had issues finding the exit and with the wifi not working well near the exit, it took us a bit of time finding the taxi or rideshare area.  We decided on taking transit so we had to go up the escalator at Resorts World monorail station since the elevator was broken.  We found the bus stop and finally made it back to the hotel.

Final Thoughts

My friend and I enjoyed our 7.5 hour visit to Universal Studios Singapore despite having issues with a broken elevator at Resorts World monorail station and exiting the park at night.  It was great getting the disability express pass but I was only able to do 1 wheelchair alternate ride and got transferred onto 1.  Was still great watching a couple shows and spending the day at the park.  Next time I would have to visit Sentosa Island on a separate day than the theme park.
