TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown
Earlier this month, a friend and I visited Denver and wanted to stay somewhere downtown. We initially booked TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown for a week, then modified our stay to 5 nights but ended up staying 3 nights because of an earlier flight home.
The Hotel
Built in 2000 and last renovated in 2019, TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver downtown has 122 rooms on 4 floors. There is a nice size parking lot with a few disabled spots right in front of the entrance. There are 2 sets of doors with only the outer door having a wheelchair button to get to the lobby.
The lobby and front desk area wasn’t really big but I had enough space to move around. There was a free water and coffee/tea station with public accessible washroom right by the front desk. The staff has been great with everything as I was having issues with a few things, especially the general manager Barbara and Tatiana.
Room
Due to our shortened reservation change, the note about us needing a room with a roll in shower did not go through properly. When we did get the proper room, it was exactly what I needed. There was a nice size Queen bed and a pull out sofa bed. There was also enough space around the bed for transfers when the sofa bed is in sofa position.
There was also a full kitchen right next to the bed that includes a fridge with freezer, microwave, sink and oven. A TV, dresser, coffee maker, desk and chair completed the room.
The bathroom was also great even though I couldn’t use the roll in shower due to a broken commode. There was both a fixed and a removable portable shower head. 3 grab bars and an optional shower chair was there if needed. The roll under sink and toilet height would have worked for me too.
Amenities
Aside from the free wifi that worked well everywhere, there was a free hot breakfast daily similar to the last TownePlace I stayed in. There is fruit, yogurt, eggs, breakfast wraps, toast, milk, juice and coffee. We did have a small breakfast every morning we were there.
There was also a small snack kiosk, fitness center, and laundry machines and services that we did not use. Seems pretty good for a budget hotel.
Location
TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver downtown is located at 685 Speer Blvd. It is right beside the Denver Health Hospital and also very close to South Broadway which is a street that is full of shops and restaurants.
A few museums including Denver Art Museum and History Colorado are within 15 minute walk/stroll from the hotel. I will be writing a review of both museums in the next few weeks, so follow along to know when it will be posted.
Final Thoughts
I had a great stay at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver downtown and will definitely stay again the next time I am in Denver. With great accessibility, room prices, friendly staff and good location, this hotel is worth staying in.
