Anaheim Portofino Inn & Suites
Last month, a friend and I wanted to visit Anaheim to visit Disneyland for their year long 70th anniversary celebrations. We had a 4 day park ticket, so we booked a 5 night stay in Anaheim. We needed an accessible hotel that is within walking distance to the parks. We chose Portofino Inn & Suites.
Hotel
Portofino Inn & Suites was recently renovated in 2012 and has 190 guest rooms in 2 buildings. We arrived Thursday really late at night and had no issues checking in at that time. There are 2 sets of doors to get into the building to get to the front desk lobby area. Unfortunately none of the doors automatically opened or had a wheelchair button. It wasn’t hard to get in anyways.

This hotel is listed as a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel. This means that in addition to standard rooms, they must offer suites and villa style accommodations. They must be AAA approved for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality and are located within close proximity of the theme parks.

Room
Our room has two nice sized Queen beds. They were comfortable and soft and had multiple pillows each bed. There looks to be enough space under the bed for a portable lift to roll under. The room was pretty spacious and had a dresser with TV, small table with chairs, and a small fridge.

There is also an accessible balcony that I can wheel out onto. It was small but had enough room for me and another small bench and chair. We didn’t really spend too much time here as we had busy days at the theme parks.

The bathroom was a decent size and the location and height of the toilet was perfect for my commode. There was a grab bar behind the toilet and one to the right. The roll under sink was just outside the bathroom.

The roll in shower had just a removable hand held showerhead surrounded by a few grab bars. There was also a flip up shower bench and a shower curtain.

We were initially told upon checking in that our room would only be cleaned on the third day of our stay. On that day when we left our room, we reminded our maid that we needed extra coffee and towels. When we came back late after a long day, our room had the coffee and towels but the room was not cleaned and was a disaster. No one was there to clean so we had to switch accessible rooms before going to bed. We complained the next morning and had 4 of our 5 nights resort fee removed from the bill.
Amenities
The free Wifi did work well throughout the property. Room service from 9 different restaurants could be ordered by scanning a QR code found in each room. There is also a fitness center, laundry machines, a gift shop, board games to borrow, and even shuttle services.
Pool
There is a gated outside pool area that has both a pool and a small whirlpool. They both have a wheelchair pool lift. There is also a bunch of lounge chairs too. We did not have time to hang out in this area or use any of the pools.
Location

Disneyland is so close to this hotel
Portofino Inn & Suites has an address of 1831 S Harbor Blvd. It is about a 10 minute walk/stroll to Disneyland, Anaheim Convention Center and GardenWalk shopping and dining district. This was my 3rd time in Anaheim and I finally got to visit GardenWalk and had a great lunch at Bubba Gump’s restaurant.

GardenWalk and Convention Center is close too
Final Thoughts
Except for the housekeeping issue that was fairly resolved, we really enjoyed our stay at Portofino Inn & Suites. The accessibility of the room was great and I was really impressed that the balcony was too. The hotel was really close to Disneyland and a few other places that guests might want to visit. I would definitely stay again.
