Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Tucson City Center
Last month, a friend and I visited Tucson to attend Dusk Music Festival. I needed an accessible hotel that was close to downtown and not too far from the festival venue – Jacome Plaza. I booked Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Tucson City Center thinking a 27 minute walk/stroll would not be too bad to get to and from the festival.
Hotel
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Tucson City Center was built in 2009 and opened for business early 2010. There is 79 rooms on 3 floors and was last renovated in 2019. When we arrived to the hotel, there was a small drive way to the front doors of the hotel. There was 2 sets of automatic doors to get into the hotel. The inner doors were locked at night and requires the room key to open.

We checked in without any issue. The lobby area was nice, bright and clean and the front desk was inviting as there was a dish of free wrapped cookies and candies. Off to the side was a counter with free coffee, tea, and several fruits in a bowl.

Room
Our room was on the main floor not too far from the front desk and lobby area. The room had 2 nice and comfortable Queen sized beds. The room was pretty spacious as I could move around the room to several spots. There was a desk, chair, TV, coffee maker, a mini fridge and microwave. There was everything that we needed.

comfortable room
The bathroom had a small roll under sink and a toilet that was the perfect height for my commode chair to fit over. There were several grab bars by the toilet. The roll in shower was a bit small but had a curtain and a removable hand held shower head. There were several grab bars and a shower bench that I did not use.

Amenities
The free WIFI worked well throughout our room and the hotel areas. I used it at the front desk and pool area and had no issues. There was also a free breakfast buffet from 6 AM to 9 AM that we had every day except the first. My friend would just go and get breakfast for us to eat in the room. Food items include waffles, cereal, toast, omelettes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, cookies, muffins, yogurt and fruit.

Other amenities include a small fitness center, vending machines, laundry services, meeting rooms, parking, a business center and a courtyard. For a budget hotel, there were some great perks for guests who stay at the hotel.

Pool
There is a gated outside pool area that has both a pool and a small whirlpool. There was a wheelchair pool lift which I never used. There is also a bunch of lounge chairs too. My friend did use the pool once while I just stayed on the side getting some sun.

Location
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Tucson City Center has an address of 705 N Freeway. It is about a 30 minute walk/stroll to downtown Tucson. At first I didn’t think 30 minutes would be a long trek for us, but I think a hotel right downtown would be better for next time.

Denny’s restaurant right next door
There is a Denny’s right next door to our hotel. There was also a Chevron gas station and a Burger King nearby too. Otherwise this hotel is mostly by a freeway.
Final Thoughts
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Tucson City Center was a good hotel. The accessibility was great except the location was a bit away from downtown. I would book this hotel again if there was a really good deal for it or if I didn’t need to go downtown often.
