Disney Wish to Lookout Cay, Bahamas

By on January 25, 2026

After going on the Disney Dream last year with Marvel Day at Sea, I wanted to do another themed Disney cruise right away.  I initially booked a Halloween cruise but had to reschedule it to a Christmas cruise due to medical reasons.  I saw a deal for Canadians and booked a 4 night Very Merrytime cruise out of Port Canaveral, Florida.

There were 2 port stops on this cruise: Lookout Cay Bahamas and Castaway Cay Bahamas.  This blog post will only be about Lookout Cay as I will write about Castaway Cay later.

Getting Off The Ship

My friend and I started the day with a sit down breakfast at 1923 restaurant.  I got Mickey waffles and a sausage link.  We were then told to go Luna Lounge if we wanted to get off the ship to visit Lookout Cay.  The reason was that we had to register with cast members that we needed to take an accessible tram from the ship to the island entrance.  Only guests with mobility issues were allowed.

When it was time for our group to head out, we went to deck 1 and went out the gangway.  This was a docked port, so we just scanned our ship card or MagicBand+ to get out.  We then waited for the next accessible tram to take us to the entrance of Lookout Cay called Mabrika Cove.  Otherwise, it would have been a long walk.

Lookout Cay was a docked port

Mabrika Cove had a small gift and snack shop, bathrooms, a check-in area for a few excursions and some cabanas.  Most people won’t spend much time here as there is a tram station that will actually take us to the main area where everything is located.  It was about a 10 minute tram ride.

Lookout Cay, Bahamas

Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a privately owned port in the Bahamas.  It is an exclusive port just for Disney guests and opened in June 2024.  This will be my first time visiting this port stop.

Just like Disney’s other private island, Castaway Cay, there is a bunch of options for people to do at this port.  There are bike rentals, trams, run/walk track.  There are also port excursions like boating, jet skiing, sailing and more.  People can also relax on the beach or rent private cabanas.  Character meets are also at select locations.  Drinks and food are included except alcohol.

Our Day

Once we arrived at the main area, we just checked out a few shops and took a few pictures at some of the photo ops areas.  Everywhere looked clean and modern and was obvious it’s a new destination spot.  There was a bunch of beach wheelchairs that are free to use, but we never bothered with them.

Goombay Cultural Center

RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration was supposed to be at 11:15 AM and 1:15 PM but was delayed to noon and 2 PM.  We were right at Goombay Cultural Center already so we waited until noon to watch this 20 minute show.

RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration

It is a high energy Bahamian festival of Junkanoo, with dancers in bright costumes and instruments getting people to join the parade.  They move around the square and allows guests to take pictures with the dancers at the end of the show.  It was lively and fun and definitely worth joining.

Afterwards, we went to the adults only area and ate at Serenity Bay BBQ.  I had the chicken, ribs, fish and potato salad and everything was included and tasted great.  We had some fresh fruit and ice cream for dessert and then hung out at the beach for a bit.

We then took the 2 accessible trams to get back on the ship.  We spent almost 5 hours on Disney’s newest private island and had a great and relaxing day.

Accessibility

I thought accessibility at Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point to be pretty good.  The walk from the ship to Mabrika Cove is a bit long but am glad those with mobility issues are able to use the tram to make it easier.  They are pretty strict with this rule because there are only a limited number of those vehicles.

beach wheelchairs are free to use, but I never used them

There were beach wheelchairs that were free to borrow but we never used.  There were some paved pathways at the beach areas and around the property which was easy to wheel on.  The wooden bridges and walkways were pretty convenient.  The shops, restaurants and Goombay Cultural Center were all accessible.

Final Thoughts

My friend and I enjoyed our visit to Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point that we stayed almost 5 hours.  We had a great BBQ lunch and really liked RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration.  We did get to learn a bit of Bahamian culture and saw their colorful costumes.  I am already coming back here next week and can’t wait.

I will be back next week
