2020 Travel – Year In Review

By on December 14, 2020

Who would have thought that 2020 was going to be so crazy with lockdowns, restrictions and sickness caused by Covid.  My goal was to visit my 30th country this year and attend a bunch of fun music festivals around the world.  Here is how my 2020 went:

Carnival Victory ship

Miami, USA

2020 started off great as I planned to visit a buddy in January who now lives in Miami.  It was my third time visiting in Miami as I went on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas stopping in Nassau and Half Moon Cay.  The whole trip was amazing as we had great sunny weather for the cruise and most of our time in Miami.  It did rain briefly while we were there but nothing to crazy that made us miss anything.

Miami fun

Missed Trips

Getting back in my city at the end of January, I have been seeing news report of a deadly virus that just started in China.  I was casually following the news daily and was wondering if it would affect my trip to Phoenix in April to attend Phoenix Lights Music Festival.

first trip canceled in 2020 was Phoenix in April

Not thinking Covid would disrupt our lives as we know today, I booked a flight to Phoenix and was hoping that it could still happen.  By the time March rolled around, the virus was literally spreading everywhere around the world and restrictions and lockdowns came into effect everywhere.

Croatia would have been my 30th country, hopefully it’s a go for 2021

That means non essential flights were not allowed.  I had to cancel my Phoenix trip and to this day only received a credit with the airline with a 2 year expiry.  Slowly one by one, the rest of my planned trips for 2020 had to be cancelled.

In Store For 2021

It is now at the end of 2020 and not only is the virus still here, it is even worse than at the beginning of the year.  With news of vaccines being used around the world starting this month, hopefully international flights can start happening again.

could this be my first trip of 2021?

If that is the case, almost every music festival trip that I had planned for 2020 has been rescheduled for 2021.  The first one would be Phoenix in April.  This trip might be too soon in 2021, so I am just cautiously keeping an eye on that.

2020 was definitely a strange year and I am glad at least I still got the chance to go somewhere.  Miami and the cruise was fantastic and I am optimistic that I will be on a plane flying somewhere in 2021. Follow me and like my page at www.facebook.com/atvyyc to get all my updates please.
