Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza New Orleans

By on March 13, 2024

Just last month, a friend and I visited New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA) for 3 nights to connect to a 4 night Disney cruise on the Magic Ship.  My friend has been in NOLA before and suggested we book our hotel near Bourbon Street and the French Quarter.  We decided to book at Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza New Orleans.

The Hotel

Formerly known as Baronne Plaza Hotel, it was built in 1931 and was taken over by Wyndham in 2009.  It was last renovated in 2021 and still has 172 rooms on 4 floors.  It was historically restored in the original art deco stone.

We arrived in the evening and it was easy to get inside with the automatic double doors at the entrance.  There were some really nice paintings, couches and lights that decorated the lobby.  There was a big glass display showing a scaled down version of downtown NOLA.

Room

spacious room

The two Queen beds were nice and big and comfortable.  A portable lift would not be able to wheel under the beds which we didn’t need anyways.  The room was very spacious and my friend had a lot of room to move my wheelchair around to lift and transfer me.

toilet and roll under sink

The bathroom was quite big too.  The roll under sink was good.  There weren’t any grab bars beside the toilet but it was a good height for my commode to wheel over it.  The roll in shower was a good size with a removable hand held shower head with a couple grab bars too.

Amenities

The free Wifi worked well throughout the property.  There was a business center and a gym which we didn’t use.  There was also paid parking which we got charged because of miscommunication.  There was also a Cafe shop and an Indian restaurant called Namaste NOLA that is connected to the hotel.

Location

The address is 201 Baronne St and is only minutes walk/stroll to Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, Canal Street and the Mississippi River.  It was so close to everywhere and everything so we were never bored.

Final Thoughts

When checking out of the hotel, I was accidently charged again for our stay, but after later calling in, it was refunded.  I would definitely stay at this hotel again since the accessibility was great, room prices were reasonable, and the location was excellent.
