Motel 6 Midtown Atlanta

By on October 25, 2021

After spending 3 nights at the fancy Westin Atlanta Airport hotel last month, my friend and I moved to budget friendly Motel 6 Midtown Atlanta for our last 2 nights in city.  I wanted to stay in the Midtown neighborhood so that we could experience a different area of the city and that was also close to the High Museum of Art

The Hotel

Motel 6 Midtown is located at 1641 Peachtree St NE and is right in the middle of Midtown.  Since this is a motel and is budget friendly, it is only a 2 star property.  There is 40 rooms on 3 floors at this motel.  Since there is no elevator to the upper floors, the wheelchair accessible rooms are on the main floor.

raining heavily when we arrived to Motel 6 Midtown

When we arrived to Motel 6 just after 12 noon, it was raining really hard and we talked to one of the staff about checking in early.  He told us that check in time was 3 PM and that we had to leave and can’t hang out in the lobby until it was check in time.  He tried arguing with us that we can’t leave our luggage either and that we had to get out in the rain with all our belongings.

this staff member wanted us to wait outside in the heavy rain until our room is ready

I have never had such poor customer service.  He didn’t want us to wait in the lobby cause he was scared of covid, even though he or no one would be around.  Another worker heard how bad he was treating us and allowed us to stay in the lobby away from the rain.  We were then allowed to check in early without any charge or fees.

this staff member let us wait in the lobby anyways

Room

entrance to our room

Just like most accessible rooms, our room had 1 king bed.  It was soft and comfortable and was on top of a bed frame that would not allow a mechanical lift to roll under it.  There was the standard TV, coffee machine with coffee and tea.

was a good size room

The bathroom was also great and really wheelchair accessible.  The toilet was a great height and had enough space for my commode chair to fit over it.  The sink did have space under it for a wheelchair user to come right up to it.

accessible sink

The roll in shower was easy for my commode chair to wheel inside and there was enough room in the shower area.  They did supply a shower chair and there were grab bars for those who need it.  The removable hand held shower was also great too.

Amenities

This motel didn’t really have too many amenities.  The free wifi worked well in the room and the lobby area.  There are vending machines with drinks and snacks and also coin operated laundry machines too.  There was also free local calls which we used many times calling for taxis and pharmacy locations asking about PCR tests.

Location

Motel 6 Midtown is located in a great area of Midtown.  It was only a few blocks from High Museum of Art, Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and many restaurants and shops.  I thought this area was really good but prefer staying downtown in the city, which is not too far from this neighborhood.

Atlantic Station shopping center nearby

Motel 6 Midtown was an ok choice if you are wanting a cheap place to stay in the Midtown area.  The accessible room and bathroom was decent but the horrible experience with the staff member at the beginning of my stay makes me not want to stay there again.
