Central Hotel Paris

By on October 14, 2022

A few months ago, a friend and I went on a Euro trip to both London and Paris  after finding a great deal on flights.  Our main purpose to visit Paris was to visit Disneyland Paris for their 30th anniversary celebrations and some of the main attractions.  Hotels in the busy downtown or central areas are all quite expensive, but luckily I found one that was in a great central area that was wheelchair accessible and for a great price too.

almost a 1 hour drive from Paris airport to this hotel

The Hotel

We decided on Central Hotel Paris which is in the Montparnasse district.  It is a smaller 3 star boutique hotel that has 6 floors with 44 guest rooms.  We arrived late Friday afternoon and previously booked for 5 nights and received confirmation that the hotel and our room would be wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower in the bathroom.

front desk lobby area

When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly front desk person who informed us that the accessible rooms are on the main floor right beside the small front lobby area.  It has a second door to the room because there is a connecting accessible room right beside ours.  The second door and entry way did block out a lot of outside street noise.

there is 1 step to get to lobby area and to our room

Room

To get to our room from the front lobby, that requires us to bump my wheelchair over the one step.  The hotel did not even have a portable ramp to put there for us to use, but luckily I usually travel in a manual wheelchair which was easy for my friend to help me up.

small room with only 1 big bed

The accessible rooms only come with one big bed since the rooms were not big enough to have 2 beds and have space for a wheelchair to move around.  There was a small TV, a closet, and a few night stands in the room and that was it.  The basic room was fine for us since we only stayed in the room to sleep and the beds were comfortable enough.

The bathroom was a bit small but it had a toilet at the correct height to fit my commode chair over it.  The roll in shower was basically just the one corner of the bathroom.  It did have a removable shower bench and a removable hand held shower head which made it easier to shower.  The sink did have room for a wheelchair to come up close to it.

Amenities

There wasn’t really any amenities at this small hotel.  The free wifi worked well throughout our room and lobby area.  There wasn’t a gym or pool or parking at this hotel either.  We didn’t need any of those amenities anyways.  There is an option to get breakfast for a fee, which we did not go to during our stay.

Location

Cafe Milou and many other restaurants right by our hotel

Central Hotel Paris has an address of 1 Bis Rue du Maine and is in the Montparnasse district.  The hotel is on a busy street with lots of small restaurants and shops.  We did get to eat at a few places surrounding our hotel including my amazing duck leg meal at Cafe Milou.  The hotel was also just a few minutes walk from Montparnasse train station/mall.  We did not use the train at all but did grab some food from this huge station.

also very close to Montparnasse train station/mall

Final Thoughts

Central Hotel Paris was in a great location and was close to a lot of shops and restaurants.  The room and the bathroom was a bit small but it was everything that we needed and wanted in an accessible room.  The only odd thing about this hotel was the one small step to get to the room.  If the hotel invested in a portable ramp, that would help guests who use powerchairs or scooters.  I recommend this budget hotel for those in manual wheelchairs and would book again.
