PHXLights Music Festival returns this April 7/8

By on February 28, 2023

PHXLights: Among The Stars is an electronic dance music festival taking place at Phoenix Raceway on April 7 and 8.  It was previously known as Phoenix Lights and I have been trying to attend this event since 2020 when it was held at the Rawhide center in Chandler, Arizona.

Location

The event is at Phoenix Raceway which has an address of 7602 Jimmie Johnson Drive in Avondale.  Doors open at 7pm and goes all night until 2am each night.  For 2023, day 1 of the event will be on the Good Friday for those people who come from countries that acknowledge it is as a holiday.

It is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Phoenix and festival goers have a few options in getting there.  Taxi or rideshare services have a certain location and can be quite costly if traffic is slow and crowded.  There are shuttle options that cost $75 roundtrip for both days or $39 roundtrip each day.  Parking is also available for $50 both days or $29 each day.

Event Details

This year’s festival map is not up yet, but since the event is held at the same venue as last year, it should look very similar, if not exact.  Oddly it does not list any accessibility features or amenities on it.  The website does not even have any ADA or accessibility information listed, only an email to ask any questions.  I am quite confident there will be some ADA compliant features and can’t wait to review the accessibility of the festival.

should be similar to last year’s map

Minimum age to attend PHXLights is 18 and 21 to purchase or consume alcohol.  Like most music festivals, there are different price points with different perks attached to each ticket level.  Basic general admission start at $129 for both days or $69 either single day.  GA+ adds on express entry and private bathrooms for $209 for both days or $119 single days.  VIP adds on VIP Lounges, premium viewing areas, bars and bathrooms and costs $299 for both days or $169 single days.

Good To Know

Wristbands will be handed out and are used for entry and for buying food, drinks and merchandise at the festival.  This is the only method of payment as it is a cashless event.  Like most events, there is no re entry, so make sure you have everything for the day like empty water bottle for free refills, medications, jacket for the night and whatever else.  There will also be lots of food options and drink options for purchase inside.

Just make sure you follow the list on the website to see what is allowed to be brought inside and what is banned.  Since Phoenix Raceway is mostly pavement, it should be easy to wheel/roll around depending on curb cuts and lanes.  Other festivals that I have been to that were at a Raceway include EDC Vegas 2015/2016 and Imagine Festival 2019.

Final Thoughts

I can not wait to check out this great music festival in the desert next month in April.  With great music and artists all in one event, this is a must attend event.  There will be several alien themed art displays and decor throughout the whole festival here along with local food vendors.  Being held again at the Phoenix Raceway, there should be lots of room to enjoy the weekend and it should also be ADA wheelchair accessible too.  Thanks again to Relentless Beats for bringing this back to Arizona.
